In 1995, he founded the Web Experimental Psychology Lab, in 2000 he and his group developed WEXTOR, an online Web (and lab) experiment generator that also teaches experimental design. Other online projects include Social Lab, an open source "Facebook" from researchers for researchers, the ::web experiment list::, a comprehensive archive of Web experiments, Scientific LogAnalyzer, and iScience Maps, a service for researchers to search Twitter. Find these and other tools at the iScience server.
Ulf is founding editor of the International Journal of Internet Science, a past president of the Society for Computers in Psychology, and a founder and former vice-president of the German Society for Online Research. He organized several of their International General Online Research conferences (GOR). He is Chair of Working Group II “Innovation in Web-based data collection” of the European Science Foundation COST Action WEBDATANET. Research interests include: Methodology of Internet-based experiments, potential biases inherent in online and offline research, privacy and social desirability in online studies, teaching with net-based technologies, social cognition, causal knowledge.
