Since fall 2013, Prof. Dr. Ulf-Dietrich Reips is a full professor at University of Konstanz, Germany (located overlooking Lake Constance and with a view of the Swiss Alps). Previous positions included a tenured Ikerbasque Research Professorship at the University of Deusto, Spain, assistant professorships and postdoc fellowships at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. In July 2004, Ulf received the Venia legendi for Psychology ("habilitation" with title "Privatdozent", PD) in the Faculty for the Science of Information and Cognition at the University of Tübingen, Germany. His Ph.D. in Psychology 1997 (also from the University of Tübingen) was on the "Acquisition of causal knowledge", and he received his M.A. in Psychology 1992 from Sonoma State University (SSU), California, for work on a group observation tool.

As a methodologist Ulf has conducted research to the advancement of methodologies and techniques for Internet-based Science or iScience, especially Web experiment methods. In 1995, he founded the Web Experimental Psychology Lab, in 2000 he and his group developed WEXTOR, an online Web (and lab) experiment generator that also teaches experimental design. Other online projects include Social Lab, an open source "Facebook" from researchers for researchers, the ::web experiment list::, a comprehensive archive of Web experiments, Scientific LogAnalyzer, and iScience Maps, a service for researchers to search Twitter. Ulf is founding editor of the International Journal of Internet Science, a past president of the Society for Computers in Psychology, and a founder and former vice-president of the German Society for Online Research. He organized several of their International General Online Research conferences (GOR). He is Chair of Working Group II “Innovation in Web-based data collection” of the European Science Foundation COST Action WEBDATANET. Research interests include: Methodology of Internet-based experiments, potential biases inherent in online and offline research, privacy and social desirability in online studies, teaching with net-based technologies, social cognition, causal knowledge.

Recently, Ulf was named among the "top 1% academics" on Academia.edu.
